And so I'm back...
Not that I intend to reveal my face, or real name - I have a pointless, but important (in the bread-winning sense) job to lose. But I still have a story or two to share, and so I will spend the brief window of opportunity between completing the last item on my to-do list 'consider garotting self with washing line' and trailing upstairs to bed, regaling you. Until tonight that time has traditionally been spent trawling e-bay for Hobbs and Boden clothes at Tesco's prices, but I have decided there must be more to life than this.
It's hard to cram two years into one post, even though they have galloped past. The most important thing is that we have survived, and we're still surviving. But as I struggle with a full-time job, raising two children and a hubski who thinks that if he continues to be "creative" with the English language it will eventually warm to him and the dictionaries will get changed accordingly, I find that something is lacking in my life (and no, it's not MAAF).
It's writing. My first love. Just like the Abba lady who thought that 'everyone listens when I start to sing', my dream is to captivate through writing. Make people laugh, reflect, and have a laugh myself.
So please indulge me, and sorry for being away for so long.

I have only just found your blog, thanks to a lead on expatica.
At last, someone else who takes a clear look at France!
I started a blog about my life in France just this year, as a way of explaining to people I know why we are 'orf' out of it. So far, the expat blog site has refused to take it, so there must be something good about it.
Good luck in your life.
I have only just found your blog thanks to a lead in expatica. At last, someone else who takes a look at France and doesn't care too much for what she sees!
We are off, once we sell the blasted house, and I started a blog to explain how I felt about things to friends...beats a round robin letter.
It must hit a few notes, as an expat blog site refuses to take it!
Good luck for the future
Glad to hear that you are surviving. Sometimes life isn't the way we would like it to be but we just have to keep plugging away until it improves or until we arrive at the point at which we decide to make a change. Will be looking for your next post. Good luck.
very useful article. I would love to follow you on twitter.
I entered this site by chance, but I found very interesting. A greeting to all the people who visit this page.
Welcome back! My wife and I enjoyed your blog very much when we were suffering through our own version of French Hell. And like you, I let my blog slide after arrival back in the homeland. It just doesn't seem worth writing, now - Everything is so easy, and there are no horror stories of the difficulty of just trying to get the post office to mail a letter. No one wants to read about a trip to the mall, or how I canceled an account simply by phoning them up and saying, "Please cancel this." We're so much happier, but there's much less to spin stories from.
Excellent blog post. I certainly love this website.
Continue the good work!
